U/11 Barwon Yellow 0 – Surfside Blue 1
The yellow team had a tough encounter at the weekend against Surfside Blue, going down by one goal. We battled hard but couldn’t break down the blues defence. Good display from Hayden in a central midfield role and a top defensive game from Braydon. Didn’t help the coach playing 1 player short in the first half !!!!! See you all at training. Go Yellow!

Match Report: Barwon had a fantastic start with Tyler kicking a great cross to Griffin for a goal within the first 2 minutes. Bellarine equalised mid way with a great strike from #28. Both teams showing some great defensive skills created some very tight football until stephen created a fantastic goal. Barwon scored again though a sensational pass from Christian to Griffin. Cooper then scored with a firm left foot strike to put Barwon ahead 4-1 at half time. Barwon dominated the start of the second half which produced an own goal from the Bellarine defender. BJ then scored again from another cross from Tyler. Barwon continued their dominance but were unable to score after many missed chances. Bellarine produced some great skills to keep the pressure on Barwon’s defence with many missed goal opportunities. Barwon hit back with some great play from Cooper with 3 attempts at goal. The game finished with both teams showing great team play and effort.

Round 4
22nd May 2011
Venue: Grovedale Reserve Synthetic Pitch
Barwon Red V Surfside Waves Red
Game Report: Christian combined with Stephen and Cooper scored the 1st goal. Stephen scored the 2nd goal. Surfside Waves combined well to get though our defence to score 2 goals, we ended the first half with the scores at 2 all. After much kicking and running the team combined, Griffin ran down the line did a great centering kick to Stephen who went on to score the 3rd goal. Griffin almost scored another goal but it went too high after the team combining Griffin scored a great goal. Cooper was waiting in the goals after much kicking by both teams and crowding a sneaky goal was put away by us.

U/11 Barwon Yellow 3 – Surfside Blue 1
A good win today by the yellow team at Surfside. We dominated the game and had them pressed in defence for most of the game, but with 4 defenders in front of the goals we could only score 1 in the first half; a great shot from Cameron. In the second half we changed Denver from goalkeeper to midfield, with new boy Samuel going into goals. This allowed us to break fast from defence where we had a lot of shots on goals, and from those attacks Denver scored twice. Great performance in defence from Connor, Samuel in his first game and an unlucky Wilson who had a couple of shots just wide of the post. Well done boys, go yellow! P.S. Get well soon Jak.
U/15 Metro Side continue their bright start to the season.
The Barwon U/15s Metro team playing Williamstown SC was again at home this weekend, albeit at Howard Glover, which is no matter as it is proving a happy hunting ground for the sharpshooting Barwon team. After a disappointing scoreless draw last week against Satellite City, it was good to see Barwon on the score sheet again as they slotted 5 past a Williamstown team who initially came to steal some points.
Although Barwon are fielding what is a majority of U/14s and 4 x U/15 players in an U/15 league, it is still surprising to see the great height advantage of our opposition. Barwon’s tactics to keep the ball in possession and on the ground proved the right tactic in the first half, as good speed and strong team play allowed for several scoring opportunities, 3 of which found the net before half time. The second half started similarly until what seemed like fatigue overcame the Barwon team and the simplest task appeared to be played sluggishly and mistakes were being made. Williamstown ceased on this and took advantage of the moment to score. Barwon became a little out of sorts and position but still managed to force on and finish with 2 more goals and a good 3 points that sees them top the ladder in West Division C albeit on Goal difference. None the less it’s a place that the team will not want to relinquish too easily.
6-1 win to Barwon U/11 Yellow in their first game!

Surfside Bellarine Sharks 1 – Barwon Yellow 6
Great second half from the boys, after being held scoreless in the first half, we went on a scoring spree finishing the game 6-1 winners. Good to see a number of different players getting on the score sheet, with Denver scoring twice. Great effort from Cameron on the left wing, Braydon making a series of great tackles and new boy Jak in defence was always in control.
Scorers: Denver 2, Connor, Jackson, Cameron, Ben.
Coach: Dave Rea.
