School Soccer Clinics Update

26 March 2011

Hello everyone here is a brief update on how the school clinics are progressing.

Barwon Soccer Club School Clinics has been a great success with seven schools participating in the clinics, I have been very busy organizing and running the soccer clinics. The clinics were run at the schools between the times of 10:00 am and 3:15 pm on various days Monday to Friday with preps to grade 6 getting involved. With the support of Simon, Dave, Nathan and my self we were able to manage and offer a fun and informative clinic to over 500 students teaching them basic soccer skills by using some fun activities and adjusting the sessions for different age groups making sure that all the students were getting involved and touching the ball as many times as possible within the session. With one more school to see we hope to be able to have reached over 700 hundred students in total for this term. Running along side the clinics I have been advertising in the participating schools newsletters.  Between the clinics and the school newsletters we have had a great response down at the Barwon Soccer Academy with a lot of new faces showing up each week.

The outlook for next year with the clinics is to run a competition between selected schools having them enter teams in 3 divisions grade 1/2, grade 3/4 and grade 5/6 to compete against each other in a round robin format at the club on the new smart grass pitch. The tournament will be held over 3 consecutive days. Having club and committee members’ present offering information on how to join the club and general information about the club.

Cheers,

Michael Pelle
